In Open HPC Week find out how supercomputers can help growth

Do large-scale computing jobs faster, more accurately, and efficiently, train artificial intelligence, and build 3D models or digital twins — just some of the benefits that entrepreneurs, scientists, students, and doctorates cite as key after work on a supercomputer or High-Performance Computing (HPC) cluster.

This is the fourth year that the Open HPC Week, organized by the EuroCC 2 project Latvian HPC Competence Centre (https://eurocc-latvia.lv), takes place in June at Riga Technical University (RTU). Supercomputers for science, study process and creating new innovations have been selected as this year’s leading theme of Open HPC Week. Therefore, students and doctoral students from all Latvian universities and institutions of higher education, lecturers, scientists, SME’s, teachers and students of the most prospective IT and programming schools, as well as anyone interested in artificial intelligence, big data, supercomputing and creating innovations, are particularly invited to the events.

Pitch presentations and speed-dating by scientist groups are scheduled for the first time this year during Open HPC Week, which opened on a supercomputer afternoon with SME’s. Doctoral students will share stories about their supercomputer experience. SME’s will be able to build new collaborations with scientists to jointly qualify for European project grants, such as Fortissimo Plus (FFplus), which provides 100% co-financing for developing new products through HPC.

At the previous stage of the project, the Latvian company CastPrint received such support from Europe.

Also, in the Open HPC Week, the premiere will be experienced by the artistic performance “Supercomputer Heartbeat,” which will then be listened to on the YouTube channel of the Latvian HPC Centre.

This is the fourth year of  “Open HPC Week” in Latvia in June. It is organized by the HPC competence Centre in Latvia “SuperS” within the framework of the EuroCC 2 project “National Centers of Competence within EuroHPC” (EuroCC 2) in co-operation with the RTU HPC Centre and the LU Institute of Numerical Modelling.
